About Creature Comfort Mobile Vet

  • As a practicing veterinarian, Dr Su-en takes pride in staying current and up to date with the latest practices and medications on offer for our pets. Adapting protocols to suit home visits, she has customised her services offered to ensure that you as an owner will not be lacking in any options such that your pet receives only the best care and advice.

The veterinary field is always progressing so we must learn and grow with it. Dr. Su-en ensures she undergoes continuing education that is both relevant but focused on supporting the services she offers as best possible.

  • We are a convenient service with a unique approach to veterinary care - catering to pet parents looking for a quality and affordable service focusing on senior pets, pain management and end of life services. We are available for you rain or shine.

Home euthanasia services are much needed in the area. We transport your pet with dignity and have cremation sorted so you do not have to worry. Your precious pets ashes will be returned to your doorstep by us.

  • Creature comfort mobile vet has 2 main focuses:

    1. Ongoing injectable pain relief plans (usually monthly)

    2. Home end of life services including cremation

You will choose option 1 if your pet is suffering from oesteoarthritis or needs ongoing pain relief for some other reason (palliative care etc). A initial consultation is required for any new client as gold-standard practice to understand your pet’s history and current needs. Remember, if we start any treatment on the same day, the first injection is free . Afterwhich, costs will only include the injections +/- travel fees if applicable

You will choose option 2 if you require a peaceful end of life service for your pet. This can be a hard decision, so if you are unsure and want a disussion first, a end of life consultation can be booked in with Dr. Su-en. This consultation allows plenty of time so you can make an informed decision.
If you do not require a discussion prior, we can provide a peaceful passing for your pet, along with cremation options at additional costs: Individual (ashes returned to your home) or group (no ashes returned). Of course you can always opt to bury your pet at home.

  • After contacting us either via phone call or email, our team will promptly take you through the booking process.

For new clients, yours and your pets details will be entered into our database. A suitable date and time will be allocated to suit your preferences. Payment will then be taken to secure the booking - over the phone payments or bank transfer with proof of payment. Bank transfers are allowed for appointments booked >3-5 business days in advanced.

Once your appointment is booked, Dr Su-en will arrive at your preferred address, fully equipped for a consultation or any additional services we offer.

We ask that you are able to assist in holding your pet if any injections need to be given

  • As hard a decision as this is, sometimes it is necessary. We are so fortunate to be able to help you through this process.

Once your appointment is booked, Dr Su-en will arrive at your preferred address, fully equipped. A consent form will be signed by an individual over 18 years old. Then, sedation will be given to your pet to allow a intravenous catheter to be placed and the medications given only when you and your loved ones are ready. We allow plenty of time as this process should never be rushed.

*We ask that you are able to assist in holding your pet for a sedation to be given

  • The aim of Creature comfort mobile vet is not to replace your regular vet, but be able to provide a convenient service for long term pain management medications and plans. We provide a less stressful avenue for your pets to receive ongoing OA management protocols, give up to date advise, and aim to support you and your pet in your time of need.

We do stock a limited number of oral prescription medications but do not write any pharmacy prescriptions as we value the importance of, and relationship you have with your local vet clinic.

  • Unfortunately no. We are a small business and unable to offer payment plans.

Payment is required to secure an appointment and processed prior to the vet coming out to your location unless otherwise agreed upon. This is primarily done over the phone to our receptionist.

Through experience, getting payment prior to an end of life service will ensure a more streamlined process and the focus can be entirely on your pet.

FAQs

General information

  • Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common problems our pets face as they age. It is a chronic, progressive disease from wear and tear of the joint cartilage, resulting in painful changes in bone structure. It affects any joint in the body, but mainly the weightbearing (limb) joints and spine.

Both dogs and cats can get osteoarthritis.

Unfortunately, it is not something that can be fixed, only managed.

  • 80% of dogs over the age of 8 years old and 90% of cats over 12 years old suffer from osteoarthritis, although this figure is likely more (especially in cats) as animals hide their pain well and cope with discomfort, so knowing the signs to look out for is important.

    In dogs:

    • subtle or obvious limps

    • gait change/ stiff gait especially when first getting up from a sleeping position

    • wetting in bed

    • change in temperament and being uneasy or angry when patted or picked up

    • reluctance or hesitation to jump

    In cats:

Signs are much more subtle but can include:

    • not "loafing" or curling arms around the front of body when sleeping

    • not curling around in a ''bagel'' shape to sleep, but sleeping stretched out

    • reluctance or hesitation to jump

    • under-grooming resulting in flaky skin or matting of the fur

    • change in temperament and being uneasy or angry when patted or picked up

A veterinary consultation should always be made first for you pet to have a full health check and to rule out other diseases.

  • Yes! There are definitely steps you can easily do at home.
Firstly, if you pet is overweight, this is a crucial factor in alleviating some joint pain. According to the AAHA, obese pets are 2.3x more likely to develop OA. Please speak to us, or your veterinarian about “Body Condition Scoring” your pet and suitable weight loss plans if indicated.

Next, you may want to reach for some joint supplements - a great support and something pet parents can try. There are an abundance of supplements on the market to choose from.

Lastly, certain food that you may already have in your pantry can be given to further support joints! This can be discussed during our in-person or phone consultations.

For more personalised advice tailored to your pet you can contact us for an appointment or a phone consultation.

  • As one of the hardest decisions to make, there are a number of factors that contribute to this decision. Ultimately, our ability to enable end of life procedures with our pets comes down to the decision to alleviate pain and suffering. Other factors may include personality changes, inability to do daily tasks (getting up to urinate, moving easily for food and water) or have daily enjoyment (more ‘bad’ days than ‘good’ days).
Some factors are influenced by owners expectations, beliefs and financial reasons too.

Generally, pet parents always want to put their pet’s best interest first and we understand that. If you need direction in making this decision, please contact us for an appointment.

We understand that life gets in the way and sometimes appointments have to be cancelled or rescheduled. Please contact us promptly with plenty of notice if you require the appointment to be cancelled or changed.

We are a small business and will always try to accommodate you as best possible, however, last minute cancellations means taking up an appointment slot where another pet could have benefited. Hence, a full refund may not be returned.
